| Opel Blitz from Ebob
The model of the Opel Blitz is from Ebob. It is
done in white metal and the finished model is quite heavy. The scale is 1:56. The
quality of the casting is very good. The parts fit good together for a model in white
metal. But I found it very difficult to glue the parts and make them hold. I used a
combination of superglue with activator for smaller parts and 2-component-glue for the
bigger parts. Here are some WiP pictures from the model. First undercoated (dark yellow over black with Humbrol emanel paints) and then with the camo pattern spraypainted:
I placed the truck beside my finished SdKfz 251 (from BAM) and wondered how I achieved the dark look from the same base colors last time.
First I gave the whole model a wash with a dark brown oil color, thinned down with turpentine. Then I repeat this process and especialy shaded all bents. The clippings were painted with beige acryl paint first, followed by darkbrown. The rust is added by the use of oil paint (burnt Sienna) with turpentine. The impression of bare metal was achieved with the graphite of a soft pencil. I used dry pigments in different shades for further weathering. This gave a good impression of dirt and dust. The glass plates are cut from overhead transparency and had been glued with wood glue.
Here are a few detail shots of the finished model:
In the end I could achieve nearly the same look as my already finished models and I am quite happy with the result. In the following pictures the Opel Blitz is shown with my Kübelwagen, Hannomag and Tiger I. The German Grenadiers are from Artizan Design and Black Tree Design. The Kübelwagen is from Company B with driver and passenger from BAM, the SdKfz 251/1 is from BAM too. The Tiger I is from Hobby Master. The scale of all models is 1:56, the miniatures are 28 mm.
The following pictures shows some pictures of the Opel Blitz in some of my selfmade terrain (Hedgerows and Fur Mats)
