| WIP - Ruined Walls
The following pictures show my first attemps in building some ruined wall pieces for my 28 mm WW II Miniatures. The masters are done of BalsaFoam. This is a material that can very easy be carved and sanded. But I don't know if I like the surface. It has very much little holes and looks a bit to rough to me. I gave the ready carved pieces two coats of thinned down PVA glue. This gave the surface a lot of more strength (what is very good!) but changed litte of the roughness. From the first piece I built a single sided silikon mould and cast some copies in my strong class 4 dental plaster.

All finished pieces together, only two pieces to go:
The planned last two pieces to finisch the walls of a ruined house:
the planning for the base: I intend to do the base multipart for more flexibility. There will be three main parts with foundation and groundfloor. After the base there are the piles of rubble and a part of the second floor to be planned and done.
first half of the basement (WIP): Some work in progress pictures of theconstructing of the foundation and the groundfloor.
The finished and cast bases for the two smaller corner pieces. The material is mostly dental plaster an resin for the wooden floor.
the piles of rubble: I intended to do the rubble separatly for greater flexibility when it comes to place miniatures.
pictures of two casts of the first two finished corners: I casted the first two finished corners (with basemant and floor) and some piles of rubble. I combinated them for a small bombed out building and placed some german Grenadiers into it. Still only in greys, I am very proud with the achieved effect.
pictures of casts of the higher ruined walls: Eventually I builded the molds and casted the last three pieces of the walls with basemant and floor.
I combinated the different pieces and took some pictures so that it looks like some German Grenadiers taking a defensive position in a destroyed Village.
pictures of the destroyed second floor: I builded the part of the second floor in two pieces and casted them in rearly thin in resin. It gives the impression of three layers of wood and timber and allows to expose them at the break line.
all pieces with piles of rubble finished: Some more modular pices for the piles of rubble finished and ready for the mold.
I think the constuction of the different parts for the ruined building is done. Some more molds to be done and then it's time for painting. Up to now it took me nearly three month, but I am very happy with the result.
finaly finished! Pictures of the painted model can be found here: Bombed out Building 1
