The following pictures show my first attemps in building some ruined wall pieces for my 28 mm WW II Miniatures.

The masters are done of BalsaFoam. This is a material that can very easy be carved and sanded. But I don't know if I like the surface. It has very much little holes and looks a bit to rough to me. I gave the ready carved pieces two coats of thinned down PVA glue. This gave the surface a lot of more strength (what is very good!) but changed litte of the roughness.

From the first piece I built a single sided silikon mould and cast some copies in my strong class 4 dental plaster.

Work in Progrss - the first test of the material:

pictures of two casts of the first two finished corners:

I casted the first two finished corners (with basemant and floor) and some piles of rubble. I combinated them for a small bombed out building and placed some german Grenadiers into it. Still only in greys, I am very proud with the achieved effect.

pictures of  the destroyed second floor:

I builded the part of the second floor in two pieces and casted them in rearly thin in resin. It gives the impression of three layers of wood and timber and allows to expose them at the break line.

I think the constuction of the different parts for the ruined building is done. Some more molds to be done and then it's time for painting. Up to now it took me nearly three month, but I am very happy with the result.

finaly finished!
