Some years ago I purchased some Diecast Model Cars from Lledo in 1:64. In this scale some nice cars of the first half of the 20th century are available. For my WW II models I personally like this slightly smaller scale than my usual models (1:56) more than the bigger ariant (1:43).

The first repainted model is a kind of a small van. I painted the model more than one year ago.

After priming the whole piece in black with a spray can I painted the groundcolors in a dark olivegreen and sand. Next was a washing with a darkbroun ink. After drying i gave the whole model a drybrush in lighter colors. The details had been painted with dark silver (radiator grills) and in light blue-grey (headlamps). The rust is painted with different shades of dark broun, burnt sienna and orange acrylic colors. The dusty effekt had been acchieved by the use of different shades of dry pigments.

In the next picture the finished model is shown next to a Kübelwagen from Company B (1:56). l think the scal is o.k..

The following two pictures shows the model together with two 28 mm miniatures (from BTD and Artizan) for size comparison.

The second repainted model is a dycast model from Lledo again. This model has been repainted in the hair-spray-technique only a few days ago.

The following little conversions had been done:
expbul3a.gif (272 Byte) I drilled out the head lamps with a Proxxon.
expbul3a.gif (272 Byte) I heated the tyres with a lighter and pressed the car on the floor to achieve flat tyres.
expbul3a.gif (272 Byte) I added a cast of a big tyre, a blanket (made of paper tissue and whiteglue) and a chain .

After priming the whole piece in a reddish dark brown with a spray can I applied different dry pigments in rust colors and used the Pigmentfixer from MIG to fix them. I also added a coat of flatt varnish (Lukas) to seal the pigments even more.
Then I applied a layer of hair spray and added salt as long as the surface was still wett. After drying I applied a second layer of paint. Again I used a spraycan - this time a middle grey. After drying I used a tough brush and water to remove the salt and parts of the color. The water solve the hairspray and the color on top striped off in very realistic patches.
Next was a washing with a darkbrown ink (Devlan Mud from GW).
The details had been painted with dark silver (radiator grills, buffer-bars, headlamps and rims),dark grey (tyres), brown and orange (rusty chain) and offwhite followed by Devlan Mud (blanket).
The rusty patches got some different shades of dark broun, burnt sienna and orange acrylic colors painted on for more variety in color tones.
The dusty effekt had been acchieved by the use of different shades of dry pigments. At last I added some very smal cutoffs from overhead transparencys with superglue to represent the broken windscreen. The finished result can be seen in the following pictures
