Test pieces for Fur-Terrain

I have seen some very impressive gaming tables with the use of shaved and brushed/painted synthetic fur somewhere on the internet. It was a must for me to test it. Here are some pictures of the WiP and the results.

The original piece of fur. The "hairs" have a length of 14 mm. The color is a kind of caramel brown.

The fur has been cut with a small scissor.

I colored the fur with acryl colors. The road is done with a brush in browns and greys. The field an the tall gras is done with an airbrush in greens and ockers. I tried to get a realistic look by usind different shades of the used colors by drybrushing ockers into the greens.

The finished piece with miniatures from Artizan Design and Black Tree Designs and a Kübelwagen from Company B with crew from Bolt Action Miniatures. In my eyes a good result that is worth the work.

Some more photos that show a realistic look using the small test pieces of fur terrain from above. This time with some US boy's from Artizan Design and a (for my taste too big) 1:48 Sherman from Tamiya.

I have done a 150 cm x 250 cm gaming mat in this style. This can be seen here.
